Despite the Portugal captain often flirting with a Los Blancos exit before signing a new bumper contract, the recent developments hold more substance given his age - while the Spanish giants look set to begin the building blocks of a new project.

"I do not know whether or not it will go to Juventus, but I believe it will remain in Real Madrid," he told Mundo Deportivo.

"I have not talked to him, however, he would have no problems playing in Serie A.

"He would certainly have less space than in La Liga or Premier League but his quality would overcome these adversities without problems," the two-time World Cup winner added.

"Cristiano will be Cristiano regardless of where you play. He can play wherever he wants, in any club, he would always do well."
